The Shanghai Dragon bag is a new, limited edition version of Gucci’s popular GG Boston bag. It has been designed in white GG coated canvas, a bold red stripe and the Gucci logo which is stamped in Guccio Gucci’s script. As a nod to China’s ancient culture and iconic symbolism, two brilliant red dragons swirl across the front of the bag.

or if that doesnt happen, then my wish is to visit the US observatory someday and see the universe through one of the world's largest telescope. it has been my dream since schoool days.

this was dragon yesterday evening...

all thanks to an irresponsible driver who cut into our lane from the right despite the very narrow space and nearly causing an accident... dragon chased him and wound down the window, that arse hole was ferrying his wife with a baby in her arm (arent kids suppose to be in child seats??!!)! he did not dare to look to our direction.
is it me or are there really a bunch of undeserving licence holders on the roads? it doesnt bother me if they harm themselves but no way should they put other pple lives at stake.

to my true friend, MW

we are so much different, yet so alike in many ways
words need not always be spoken but we will know and understand each other
u are always so accommodating, especially when we went on trips - u boiled water each morning and poured me a cup; lying on our beds at the of the day and chat till we both fall asleep; having macs for breakfast almost everyday while in perth (i always rem the white tea incident lol); eating maggie mee in the 24-hr convenience store in korea and so much more :)
u will always invite me to your family outings;
i get along with your mum pretty well cos i'm like her lol
i stayed over the nite before ur wedding and was ecstatic to be a part of a life changing moment in your life
as u walked down the aisle, the joy felt in my heart was indescribable
even though now u are married, u still afford time for me - listening to my grouses, taking the trouble to find a solution to my sucky predicament, helping me more than i can ever imagine
u are a sister i never had, no words can express how thankful i am of this special friendship of ours, the extend u go to for me...

life is unpredictable and i dont want to hold back to say what my heart feels :)
i dedicate this to u...

For my Dearest Friend
Remember the times that we shared before
Though many years had passed away
A promised was made that was not meant to be broken
To always cherish and remember you in my life

Amidst the friends that I had in all these years
You were still the best of them all
A rare gem to treasure in my heart
Locked away without a key to be found

As we share the memories of our youth
You brought back the best times of my life
All the laughter, the craziness and the joys that we had
You inculcated them deeply within my heart

As I look at your face my dearest friend
Kindness, maturity and humbleness reflects in you
Your eyes are like a mirror looking and prying
Always searching to bring out the best in me

Ahh, now that you're back in my life once more
I feel like a small child again and again
Looking for a strong hand to hold on
As I reach for the right path that lays ahead of me

I wish to give you another solemn vow my friend
Years may pass away again in our lives
Somehow, somewhere we'll see each other once more
You'll always be my dearest friend at all times

my great grandpa, a prominent Hokkien merchant and landowner who presumably presented a monkey to the Raffles Museum =p

also, it hit me where the 'Lea' in my brother's name, Tan Dean Lea, came about...
grandpa adopted it from his trading with J Lea & Co

i hope Dean may one day find his way to this blog and reach me...

the pig's lost heritage

Borden Company (Pte) Ltd, a Singapore grown pharmaceutical manufacturing company since 1960, produces the well-known Eagle Brand Medicated Oil, which has become synonymously known as the “green oil”. Eagle Brand medicated oil was formulated in 1935 by a German chemist, Wilhelm Hauffmann, for J Lea & Co, a trading house owned by the late Tan Jim Lay, a direct descendant of the patriarch Tan Quee Lan. He was a well-known Chinese merchant and philanthropist in Singapore during the early 1900's.

The Eagle Brand medicated oil under J Lea Co flourished and grew very significantly and dominated the local market for medicated oil in the post war period. In 1960s, the late Tan Jim Lay got together a few of his business associates to join his company as shareholders in order to strengthen the capital base and fortify the management of the business. Borden Co., Pte Ltd was officially incorporated on the 26th of March 1960 to take over the business of J Lea & Co including the Eagle Brand trade mark and the proprietary rights acquired from Wilhelm Hauffmann & Company.

In 1963, Borden Co., Pte Ltd formally registered Wilhelm Hauffmann & Company as a business name under its sole ownership. Borden Company began manufacturing and packaging its products at its first facilities located at River Valley in Singapore. Subsequently, the factory was relocated to its present premises at Jalan Kilang in the early 1970s.

Currently, the single-storey detached factory is being redeveloped (completion by November 2006) to accommodate a new 7-storey light industrial building, comprising of GMP certified facility, and equipped with the latest machineries and technology as well as space for warehousing.

Annually, the factory produces as many as 5.2 million bottles of Eagle Brand Medicated Oil. Although the medicated oil remains as the core product, dedicated research and development have created an extended range of pharmaceutical products, such as, medicated balms, eucalyptus oils, muscle rubs, plasters, disinfectant sprays and swipes, amongst others.

the wonder years

reruns of the wonder years screens daily on ch 5...
i forgot how much i used to love watching it until i caught it recently.
tv was usu my only companion back then - am the only child with lots of restrictions, you see.

i guess u could say that it was such serials that taught me wat i needed to know abt feelings and life, esp when my parents arent ard much to guide me.

by today's standards, such serials would fail to attract viewers esp the younger ones cos they would likely to deem it as boring (can't blame them cos there is so much to keep one occupied like the internet, also they are more into sex and gore), it's kinda sad if u ask me as this might be the very shows that instill the values which is so much lacking in society now.

i leave you guys with a couple of quotes from the show which may let u see why this show rocks for me :)

After all, if growing up is war, then the friends who grew up with you deserve a special respect. The ones who stuck by you shoulder to shoulder, in a time when nothing was certain, all life lay ahead, and every road led home.

In your life, you meet people. Some you never think about again. Some, you wonder what happened to them. There are some that you wonder if they ever think about you. And then there are some you wish you never had to think about again. But you do.

Yeah. [pause] No. [pause] I mean, you grow up next door to someone and you figure you really know him. And then like...overnight, you find out you...you don't know him at all.

Once upon a time there was a girl I knew, who lived across the street. Brown hair, brown eyes. When she smiled, I smiled. When she cried, I cried. Every single thing that ever happened to me that mattered, in some way had to do with her. That day Winnie and I promised each other that no matter what, that we'd always be together. It was a promise full of passion and truth and wisdom. It was the kind of promise that can only come from the hearts of the very young.~The last episode

I grew up in the suburbs. I guess most people think of the suburb as a place with all the disadvantages of the city, and none of the advantages of the country, and vice versa. But, in a way, those really were the wonder years for us there in the suburbs. It was kind of a golden age for kids. -The 1st ever episode

A suburban junior high school cafeteria is like a microcosm of the world. The goal is to protect yourself, and safety comes in groups. You have your cool kids, you have your smart kids, you have your greasers, and in those days, of course, you had your hippies. In a fact in junior high school, who you are is defined less by who you are than by who's the person sitting next to you. ~Kevin when entering the cafeteria

Sometimes to keep growing together, you have to grow apart. If you're lucky you can get a second chance with the one you love. Sometimes luck isn't enough. Love can kill you..It can tear you apart. But it can bring you back together.

Love is unpredictable, you have to go with your heart and hope for the best.

I'm young. I live in a house my father owns, in a bed my father bought..Nothing is mine..except my heart and my fears and my growing knowledge that not every road is gonna lead home anymore.

I never knew how bad it hurt to lose something I never really had.

And the thing is, after all these years, I still look back with wonder.

Winnie, you know I don't get you!! One minute you like me, the next you don't. You've been doing this all year. First you kiss me, then you act like you don't like me. If you like me, fine, if you don't, quit acting like it!!

In 7th grade, you are what other people say you are. And when it comes down to it, you don't remember the people you tried to impress.

Change is never easy. You fight to hold on. You fight to let go.

Things in life can get lost without any certainty of finding them again.

Growing up happens in a heartbeat. One day you're in diapers; the next day you're gone. But the memories of childhood stay with you for the long haul.

They say hindsight is 20/20, and I guess that's true; because standing there that night everything became so clear.

I'd taken something most people never have and thrown it away for something less. I'd been so busy trying to impress the people that didn't really matter and I'd torn apart the only ones that did...us.

All our young lives we search for someone to love, someone who makes us complete. We choose partners and change partners. We dance to a song of heartbreak and hope all the while wondering if somewhere and somehow there is someone searching for us.

What would you do if I sang out of tune? Would you stand up and walk out on me? Lend me your ears and I'll sing you a song, I will try not to sing out of key. ~Wonder Years Theme

dragon would love this =)

love this

"You should never be too impressed by people with good manners.

They’re the ones who will give a friendly wave even when they’ve stolen from you.

They’re the type to sweetly welcome you even as they try to uncover your secrets.

They’re the kind to offer you coffee even as they report you to the police.

And don’t be too offended by someone who is openly rude because they may be that way for the nicest of reasons."
